Kim Booksoon's Big Pot House (김북순큰남비집) visit and review!
Today, I visited Kim Booksoon's Big Pot House (김북순큰남비집), a kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) restaurant in Jeju's Yeondong area!
It's finally landed in Jeju! I found it right across from Maison Glad Jeju Hotel.
That's Maison Glad Jeju Hotel right there! It's so great to be able to enjoy a warm kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) right in front of the hotel.
There's also a duty-free shop along the road, so it's a street with a lot of foreign tourists.
Kim Booksoon's Big Pot House (김북순큰남비집) is a truly delicious restaurant that has also appeared on "Delicious Guys" (맛있는 녀석들). It was introduced as Moon Se-yoon's favorite restaurant.
A place where the kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) is aged for 30 days, making it a delicious dish! It's said to be a "rice thief" (밥도둑).
Now, let's go inside. The interior isn't very large.
It has wooden tables and chairs, making it very clean. It's an interior that's perfect for enjoying kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew).
True to its name, "Big Pot House" (큰남비집), pot lids are all over the walls!
I thought they were just lids, but they're filled with messages written by customers! I love this sentimental touch.
Here's the menu at Big Pot House (큰남비집). Pork, tuna, spam, and other types of kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew), and doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean paste stew) are all 11,000 won each!
They also sell side dishes like dried pollack and rolled omelets.
After placing our order, we take a look around. There's a private area by the road.
Honestly, everything tastes good in Jeju. But still, I'm looking forward to the kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew)!
The kitchen area is clean, too. Since the duty-free shop is nearby, I think quite a few foreigners will come to eat kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew).
It's a place that can share the taste of Korea, so I felt a patriotic desire for it to be delicious.
The side dishes arrive first! The steamed rice looks exactly like you'd expect from a Korean meal.
There are four side dishes in total! Bean sprouts, fish cakes, pickled radish, etc. It's a lineup that goes very well with kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew).
Now, the dishes we ordered are starting to arrive. The first dish is sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew)!
Sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) in a pot is so delicious. It contains both soft tofu and regular tofu, making it very spicy and wonderful.
Today's main dish is tuna kimchi jjigae (tuna kimchi stew)! It has a different feeling than pork kimchi jjigae (pork kimchi stew).
The bubbling kimchi flavor is so good, and the broth is amazing.
Especially, it's full of tuna, and if you eat it with tofu, the texture is amazing!
The combination of tuna and kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) is truly a work of art.
