I recently visited Jinmi Restaurant, a famous ganjang gejang (soy sauce marinated crab) restaurant in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

I was surprised to see a line of foreign tourists, including myself, waiting even though the location isn't convenient and there aren't any famous sights nearby. (Why am I surprised?)

It seems the restaurant has become popular in online communities outside of Japan. While waiting, I overheard many different languages and saw various foreigners making reservations over the phone. (I'm just curious how everyone finds this place; there's no doubt about the taste.)

We ordered two servings of the Gejang set meal (45,000 won per person).

The reason I love Jinmi Restaurant's ganjang gejang is that it's clean and not overly sweet or salty, unlike other soy sauce marinated crabs. Even mixing the innards with rice isn't overwhelming.

It's 5,000 won more expensive than takeout, but it's overwhelmingly recommended to dine in because it comes with gim (seaweed), steamed eggs, and nurungji (scorched rice), along with other delicious side dishes.
