Explanation of how to register for the electronic entry declaration form and the flow of immigration procedures to be introduced in 2025

The first step in traveling to Korea is the entry procedure. From 2025, you will be able to declare your entry online in advance. No fee is required, and the target is foreigners staying for tourism or business purposes for less than 90 days.

The paper entry card that has been used so far will be discontinued at the end of December 2025.

I have summarized the current immigration procedures in Korea, so please check them before traveling to Korea.

How to fill out the Korean entry card
If you forget to register the electronic entry declaration form or don't know how to do it, you can submit a paper entry declaration card as usual.

It is recommended to write the entry declaration form in advance on the plane.
※It is often distributed on the plane, but some airlines do not distribute it. In that case, fill it out upon arrival at the airport.

・For "Contact information in Korea" on the entry card, write one of the following: the name of the hotel or place of stay in Korea, the address of an acquaintance, or the name of the company to be visited.
・For "Signature" on the entry card, write the same signature as on your passport.
※Submission is not required for Koreans, foreigners who have completed foreign registration in Korea, and foreigners who have already registered for electronic travel authorization (K-ETA)

What is the electronic entry declaration form in Korea?
It is a new system introduced on February 24, 2025. You can access the "e-Arrival Card official website" from your computer, smartphone, or QR code and declare your entry online in advance.

No fee is required, and the target is foreigners staying for tourism or business purposes for less than 90 days.

※Declaration with a paper entry card is also possible until the end of December 2025
※If you have already obtained electronic travel authorization (K-ETA), you do not need an entry declaration form (electronic or paper)

When can I register?

You can register from 3 days before the date of entry into Korea. The declaration availability date is also displayed on the "e-Arrival Card official website."

One applicant can apply for up to 9 people at once.

※If you do not enter the country within 72 hours of submitting the declaration form, the declaration form will be invalid

Electronic entry declaration form registration procedure
1. Agreement to the terms and conditions
• Check the agreement to the collection and use of personal information and the terms of use, and register your email address. Children under the age of 14 must be declared by a proxy, such as a family member.

2. Upload a photo page of your passport
• When the upload is complete, your personal information will be entered automatically.

3. Enter travel information
• Enter the date of entry, date of departure, flight number, place of stay, and purpose of stay.

4. Submission of the declaration form
• It is complete when you press the submit button. No fee is required, and there is no approval of the declaration details. The submitted documents can be downloaded as a PDF file or saved as a screenshot. You can correct the information on the website before immigration inspection.

5. Immigration inspection
• You do not need to bring the previously applied electronic entry declaration form file when you receive immigration inspection.

Immigration inspection in Korea
After arriving in Korea, follow the 안내 signs and line up at the immigration counter for foreigners (Korean citizens' counter for Koreans).

After presenting your passport to the inspector, you will register your fingerprints and face photo.
※Those who have not registered the electronic entry declaration form should submit a paper entry card

When entering Korea, instead of stamping your passport, an immigration inspection confirmation (landing slip) will be affixed.

※Fingerprint and facial photography during immigration inspection are mandatory, and entry will not be allowed if refused. However, those under 17 years of age, foreigners from foreign governments or international organizations are excluded.
Baggage claim

Go to the lane displaying the flight number you were on and collect your checked baggage. Since there are many suitcases with similar designs, be sure to check carefully.

If your baggage is missing or damaged, prepare the exchange certificate you received at check-in and inquire at the counter where the airline staff is located.

Customs
If you are bringing in items that exceed the duty-free limit, create a "Customs Declaration Form" and follow the necessary procedures at the taxable counter.

If you have nothing to declare, you do not need to create any documents. Follow the "no declaration" line and proceed to the exit.

Those who have a Korean mobile phone number can also declare customs through the "여행자 세관신고 (Traveler Customs Declaration)" application.

It is convenient because you do not have to enter your flight number, the country you are visiting, the travel period, etc., and you can calculate the amount of tax to be paid for items exceeding the duty-free limit in advance.

Once you have finished entering the declaration details, a QR code will be issued, so just touch it at the automatic inspection stand when entering Korea.
