I actually wanted to write about my trip to Mangwon Market all at once, but it felt like it was getting too long...🤣 This time, it's a review of the croquette shop!
Mangwon Handmade Croquettes
- Mon-Sat 09:00 ~ 21:00
- Closed on Sundays
The Mangwon croquette shop is located at the end of Mangwon Market, yet there's always a line of people waiting...!
With so many people, they're constantly making more inside😊
The menu was really diverse, from twists, donuts, and croquettes to hot dogs and salad bread😆
Because it's in the market, the prices were so cheap that I wanted to buy all the flavors... but these things lose their flavor if you leave them too long, so I bought only 3😋
Glutinous Rice Twist (1,000 won)
They have two types of twists, the old-fashioned twist and the glutinous rice twist! I got the glutinous rice twist!
Since it's a glutinous rice twist, the dough was definitely chewy, but it was surprisingly cold, so the outside felt hard....😥
It might be fine on a warm day, but on a cold day like today, another menu item might be better....
Potato Salad (1,000 won)
The potato salad croquette has mashed potatoes and various vegetables inside. The outside of the croquette is crispy and chewy, while the potato salad inside is soft, making for a harmonious texture😆
It was relatively warm, likely because it hadn't been made long ago, and it tasted better than the twist😊
Japchae (1,000 won)
I originally planned to buy the vegetable croquette, but the people in front of me all bought the Japchae croquette, so I got that too🤣
I imagined it would be full of glass noodles, but it wasn't. It was a basic vegetable croquette with a little bit of glass noodles added😊
Having eaten the glutinous rice twist and potato salad croquette, the Japchae croquette tasted the most spicy, with a noticeable pepper flavor😋
Nowadays, there are croquette and twist chains, so you see them from time to time. But I remember always eating them at the market before, so when I see them, I always buy them😆
It's not a croquette that's overflowing with filling, but it had that distinctive market-style croquette taste. They're constantly making more because there are so many people, so you can eat warm croquettes!
If you visit Mangwon Market, why not try a croquette?😋
