Meeting up with some language school friends in Seoul after a long time, I found that 4-person accommodations in Seoul weren't as plentiful as I thought!

I found the Myeongdong Sejong Hotel Triple Room (+including complimentary wine) at ₩196,896 per night on weekendswhich offered great value for money, so I booked it and went there quickly! I booked through Agoda, and the price was the cheapest, probably because of their lowest price guarantee system. [Book Myeongdong Sejong Hotel at the lowest price]

It had definite pros and cons, so I'll write a detailed review below!!

Myeongdong Sejong Hotel

There's an escalator as soon as you enter the Myeongdong Sejong Hotel!

I was surprised by its larger-than-expected size. Going up the escalator, you'll see the lobby and the front desk!

The lobby was spacious, clean, and pleasantly fragrant, exceeding my expectations.

We added one extra personpaying an additional ₩22,000and were assigned room 405. We went up using the elevator.

The elevators are located to the right of the lobby and there are about 3 of them!

Inside the Room

The inside of the accommodation was generally dark!

There was one double bed and two single beds, making it suitable for four people.

There was a wardrobe near the entrance where you could hang clothes, and inside the wardrobe, there were four pairs of slippers. (About 6 clothes hangers.)

We couldn't find the light switch inside the wardrobe, so we slept with the room key out!! It was quite irritating. Opposite to the wardrobe was the bathroom and bathtub.

Basic amenities including toothbrush and toothpaste were provided.

The water pressure was excellent, so there was no need to worry about that, but overall, it had an old-fashioned feel.

And on the small table, there was complimentary wine!!! There was also a small table, so it seemed good for ordering food.

There were also three chairs, so if one person sits on the bed, it seems good as a 4-person accommodation. Although it was complimentary wine, it was sweet and delicious, and we enjoyed it with our friends.

Oh, and if you draw the curtains, you can see Namsan Mountain in the distance!

After looking around the accommodation and having fun with my friends, I went to sleep around 2 a.m., and until then, I thought it was good value for money.,,,,

At 6 a.m., the room next door was incredibly noisy, with loud banging and chattering.

So, I contacted the front desk, and a staff member personally warned them, making it a bit quieter.,,, but a few tens of minutes later, someone suddenly rang the bell, opened the door, and entered our room?! (I couldn't sleep after that.. ㅠㅠ)

It turned out that...the hotel room door didn't lock automatically...you had to lock it manually? (Found out at check-out)

This was my first time encountering a room with a manual lock, so I was really surprised;;;

And the check-out time was 12 p.m., and we were in the room until 11:45 a.m.? Suddenly, the bell rang once, and a cleaning person opened the door and came in, then went out again after seeing that we were still in the room, which also made me feel uncomfortable..

So, while there were some good points, I felt the negative aspects were more prominent.

To summarize,

[Advantages]

1. Good value for money as a 4-person accommodation in Seoul/on weekends. (Complimentary wine + extra person, total ₩217,896)

2. Friendly staff.

3. Excellent access as it's near Myeongdong Station, and there are various food options nearby.

4. Excellent water pressure.

[Disadvantages]

1. Poor soundproofing.

2. Although a 3-star hotel, it has an old-fashioned feel.

3. The door must be locked manually.

Still, considering how difficult it is to find a 4-person accommodation in Seoul, I think it's pretty decent. If you're looking for a hotel for a short trip, I would recommend the Myeongdong Sejong Hotel.
