The entrance is a bit unique. You order and pick up on the 1st floor, but the entrance to the order area is on the 2nd floor; you go up the stairs and then down!
It's a three-story building, and the stairs and the cafe itself feel like a mixed exhibition space, which I really liked.
The 3rd floor is divided in half, with one half a terrace and the other half a rooftop, offering a view of Bukaksan Mountain.
Exiting the terrace and looking to the right, you'll see a small door. The cafe, LEEDORIM, is a name combining ‘Lee Do,’ Sejong the Great's childhood name, and ‘Rim,’ which has various meanings. The Chinese characters and explanations of the meaning of ‘Rim’ found throughout really resonated with me.
Among them, this small door, which seemed to embody the ideals of King Sejong, was particularly appealing to me.
Going up, you can see Bukaksan Mountain, said to be built on the site of King Sejong's birthplace, at a glance. The weather was nice, and the scenery was beautiful.
Anyway! After sufficiently exploring the 3rd floor, we found a seat and went down to the 1st floor to place our order.
These are the coffee options! There's a bakery section in the back.
We chose the Kouign Amann and the Canelé!
Americano, Canelé, and Kouign Amann💓
The 2nd floor is overflowing with emotion, with picture-frame-like windows and a guest book.
And autumn is Seochon, isn't it?! The view of Seochon street through the window was so beautiful, it made my heart flutter.
This is what the top of the rock island looks like from the 1st floor. It looks a bit like Hallasan Mountain's Baekrokdam crater, and the steam created by the falling water is mystical.
There's also this amazing space on the opposite side, giving the cafe a mixed exhibition space feel!
The coffee was refreshing and not acidic, the canelé was a bit hard, but the Kouign Amann was delicious!
Above all, the fact that it's a cafe built on the site of King Sejong's birthplace was very appealing.
