A few months ago, I had to go to Cheongju Airport because I had booked a flight from Cheongju to Da Nang on Aero K. I think that if the airfare from Cheongju Airport is reasonable and it's convenient to get to Cheongju Airport, it's one of the various ways to travel internationally from Seoul that is increasing.
So I diligently searched for ways to get to Cheongju Airport.
There are three main ways to get to Cheongju Airport from Seoul.
- 1. Take an express bus/intercity bus directly to Cheongju Airport
- 2. Take a train to Cheongju Airport Station and walk a short distance
- 3. Go to a nearby station/terminal and take a bus
To get to the airport, if you have to transfer multiple times with a lot of luggage, including heavy suitcases, or if it takes a long time, you might get tired before your trip even begins, so I only considered the first two simple methods.
First, take an express bus/intercity bus to Cheongju Airport
Think of it like taking an express bus/intercity bus to Cheongju Airport, just like taking a limousine bus to Incheon Airport. (However, limousine buses have multiple bus routes and stops throughout Seoul.
On the other hand, the major difference with buses going to Cheongju Airport is that you have to go to the bus terminal... However, the advantage is that it drops you off right in front of the airport, so if the terminal is convenient and the schedule is right, you can go to the airport as conveniently as a limousine!
As of November 2024, express buses from Seoul to Cheongju Airport are only available from the Centrel City Terminal.

I don't know why, but there are days with more buses running temporarily. It would be good to check the flight schedule and bus time and seats.
There are also intercity buses using the same method.
Intercity buses can be taken from Seoul Nambu Bus Terminal.
As of November 2024
Intercity buses from Seoul to Cheongju Airport are only available from Seoul Nambu Bus Terminal. The departure times are in between the express bus schedules, so it seems like you can choose a convenient time.
However, the estimated time is not shown for intercity buses, but according to KakaoMap, it takes about 23 minutes longer than the express bus, so it would be better to prepare with a little more leeway!

Go to Cheongju Airport Station and walk a short distance to Cheongju Airport
Cheongju Airport Station is right next to Cheongju Airport.
Buses can vary depending on road conditions, and trains are cheaper, so if the timing is right (only one stop per day ㅠㅠ) and it's not far from Seoul Station, a train can also be a good option.

Travel time: approximately 2 hours 10 minutes
Arrival time at Cheongju Airport Station: 20:00
It takes about 12 minutes to walk from Cheongju Airport Station to the airport.
Pulling a suitcase might be a little troublesome, so you should also consider the weight of your luggage when choosing a train.
Cheongju Airport seemed far away, but as I looked for ways to get there, I found convenient methods, so it felt closer. (For some people, it might have felt farther away...ㅠ)
I think that finding flights to Cheongju Airport can also help, even a little, in choosing a better time and a better travel destination!
