Hello! This time, I rode the Hwaseong Fortress Train in Suwon, which allows for a special experience! This is a review of how nice it was to ride in winter.

To board the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress Train, it is convenient to use the Yeonmudae Public Parking Lot. The price is reasonable, but the parking lot is small, so it's best to visit early in the morning. When I visited around 10 am on a weekend, there were many empty spaces.
Even though it was winter, there were quite a few parking spaces left after boarding. Still, please note that it is convenient to park if you arrive before 11 am! And unusually, there was a separate nursing room in the parking lot. If you are visiting with young children, please refer to this!
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress Train Riding Review
A sightseeing train that circulates around the fortress walls and Hwaseomun for 20 minutes
I parked at the Yeonmudae Public Parking Lot at 10 am to ride the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress Train. I had a reservation for the 10:20 train, but there were hardly any reservations because it was winter.
It was cool because it was made based on the car that King Sunjong rode and the royal carriage of the Joseon Dynasty, and it had the same color as the king's royal robe. The children were excited because they said they were riding a cool train. Each door had patterns from the royal robe, making it look more luxurious.
Even though we had made a reservation in advance, we had to go to the Yeonmudae ticket office to collect the tickets. We also visited before the boarding time to exchange tickets. We had 2 adult tickets, 1 senior discount ticket, and the children were 35 months old, so they rode for free. However, there are no separate seats, so they have to sit on their laps.
The train operates from 9:40 am at 20-minute intervals, excluding lunchtime.
We moved to the Hwaseong Fortress Train boarding area with the tickets. Two trains were waiting, and you can board at the place with the sign. The driver asks in advance if you are getting off in the middle, and if you are, you can tell them the point where you want to get off. We went around in a circle.
They said at the ticket office that the train wasn't heated, so I was worried it might be cold, but it had windows and automatic doors, so it was okay, and it wasn't as cold as I thought.
Riding the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress Train in winter, the scenery was a little disappointing, probably because of the weather, although the reservation was easy. I thought I'd like to ride it again in spring or autumn.
The Suwon Hwaseong Fortress Train runs on a dedicated road, passing through Hwaseong Haenggung and the city center, and the scenery made me feel like I had gone back to the Joseon Dynasty, which was a very special experience.
One tip is that since we boarded in the morning, the sun came in a lot from the window side, so the automatic door side was better for taking pictures than the window side.
Some of the people who were riding with us got off in the middle, so in the end, it was nice to be able to ride like we had chartered the train. Because it was winter, very few people boarded in the morning.
The Suwon Hwaseong Fortress Train is not as cold as you might think even in winter, so it's fine to ride it, so if you have a chance to visit Suwon, don't hesitate to ride it!

Sightseeing train that is not cold even in winter
Travel TIP

4. Best to ride on a nice day in spring or autumn!
Riding on the Hwaseong Fortress Train's dedicated road, you can feel like a king! There is a simple announcement broadcast from time to time, and it was more informative than I thought. It was a nice experience because it wasn't as cold as I thought, even in winter, and there weren't many people, making it easy to ride comfortably.
